Everyone should have the opportunity to own a home. Homeownership gives freedom, security, and a stake in your community.

But a new generation of would-be homeowners have been locked out, thousands more who don't fit into a narrow box are being left behind, and we’re all being asked to accept a process that should be unacceptable.

We’re here to change it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Gen H Refer a Friend scheme?

When you refer someone to get a mortgage with Gen H, we’ll give both you and your referee £500 in cash when they complete their mortgage. You can refer a friend, family member or colleague, and there are no limits on how many people you can refer.

To be eligible, the person you refer can’t have ever been offered a mortgage by Gen H, and they cannot be a booster on a current or past Gen H mortgage.

The full details of the Gen H Customer Referral Programme can be found in our Terms and Conditions.

Who can I refer?

You can refer anyone who is purchasing a home or remortgaging to Gen H for a £500 referral payment as long as your referee is a new customer to Gen H.

That means they can’t have been offered a Gen H mortgage in the past, and they can’t be a booster on a current or past Gen H mortgage. If the person you refer is buying with others, no one on their mortgage application can have received an offer from us previously.

Your referee has to apply for a mortgage with us directly through our Gen H advisors, meaning they can't use a broker or an intermediary.

I’m a referrer - who do I need to tell about my referral?

Your referee will tell their Gen H advisor that you referred them during their advice call – no action is needed from you. We’ll send you email updates along the way. If someone tells us that you referred them, and it turns out you haven’t or you’d rather not act as a referrer for this person, just let us know you’d like to opt out and we’ll cancel the referral.

When do I get my referral payment?

After your referee completes on their mortgage, we’ll be in touch by email. We’ll generally get in touch quite quickly but this could happen up to 60 days after they complete. You’ll need to give us a quick call to confirm your banking details. Then we’ll transfer the funds directly to your bank account, and send you an email to confirm the transfer is complete.
